Sedum Pachyphyllum

 Day TWO - 15 June 2019 ... after ONE DAY

 29 June 2019 - just look at those roots!

Have decided to put my Sedum Pachyphyllum leaves in soil. (The fat leaf in the centre, is a Little Jewel Red Tips - a pachyphytum). I'd never tried to propagate leaves before, but I'd a video on YouTube, where someone was propagating them, suspended over water, so thought I'd give it a go.  I was AMAZED to see roots after just ONE day, and they've been doing quite well over the past couple of weeks. Thought it was time to transfer them to a pot of soil, and hopefully that works, and they grow into healthy plants! I've misted the soil, and hope that was the right thing to do ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had these in water too - a burro's tail, string of bananas and string of hearts cuttings - but now that I have soil I've potted them up instead. I have two more string of hearts cuttings in the kitchen, and those are in water still. They're in a water bottle I brought home from Bianca's last week.
I want a string of hearts plant, but the postage on eBay is twice as much as the price of a plant, so I'll wait to see them in a shop ... and then I'll grab 2 or 3 of them!
Which is which ...?
These are succulents I bought on eBay, and which arrived last week. I had to ask the seller to help me with identifying which was which - they don't always look the same in person. I heard back from the seller today ... and turns out I only got 3 out of 6 correct! At least now I know which name goes with which plant.  Plus the seller's offered me a refund on the two larger plants on the right of the photo, because they didn't make the journey from China in the best condition.
I've been labelling the plants as they arrive so I don't forget their names. It helps to know the name when it comes to looking for growing and care tips on the Internet.
Compost
I ran out of my potting mix yesterday, and I have 6 plants which need to be put in pots! Unfortunately there aren't many shops in Gibraltar which sell the stuff.  I went to Gibralflora on Monday ... they didn't have any left.  So I went to Morrisons this morning ... nothing!  I'm also waiting for a call from Kitchens Direct, about my Ikea order of growing medium and a couple of other things, but they haven't called yet!  They go to Ikea on Tuesdays, and should have called me today, so I can go and collect my order from the shop, so hopefully tomorrow ...  I've ordered Vaxer medium, which I mix with cactus compost, to add drainage.  I discovered it by accident.  Had no idea what I was ordering, only that it was a "growing medium", and turns out it's pumice!
So I was going to have to mix the pumice with ordinary "universal" houseplant compost, but then I thought WAIT ...  I never buy a packet of anything, so I thought, maybe I have a little bit of cactus compost somewhere.  And I did ... I have TWO and a bit bags, which should be more than enough to pot up the plants I have, and any others which arrive in the near future!
So, there are advantages to being a hoarder.  ðŸ˜‰
New Arrivals
I had one solitary passiflora for years, until I recently started to buy more plants. I've recently become obsessed with succulents too! I bought 3 in Liverpool a couple of years ago, but they didn't last very long - maybe I over-watered them?
The largest order of succulents came from China. I bought 7 plants, and she's sent me a free one too - the white one on the left of the picture. Not sure what variety it is, but I've asked the seller, Lucy.
There are four more plants, which came from Malta - those are on the right of the picture. There are two tiny Sempervivums. I haven't had the best luck with those.  One dried up earlier this week, and another arrived in a very sad state, also from Malta, and I'm waiting to see if it will survive. The sedum and senecio cuttings came from Spain ...
I want to put the cuttings in water, to propagate, and pot up the rest of the plants.
I have more plants coming soon ...
