String of Hearts

I moved the String of Pearls to the craft room, next to the balcony doors (and beside my succulent collection). The new shoots have been growing, but they were turned towards the balcony doors in the living room, so I think it could do with more sunlight - unfortunately it's been dull and grey today.

I had one of the cuttings I bought (either from Malta or Portugal) recently in the ceramic wellies, but it wasn't getting a lot of light either, so I've re-planted it in the pot with the larger String of Pearls.

The cuttings I have in water don't seem to be rooting yet, but the lengths of String of Pearls I put in the opaque plastic bag has a couple of think white roots! I started rooting them on 10th September, so I think I have to be a little bit more patient and they'll eventually all root and I can plant them all in one pot and get a nice, bushy String of Pearls. Later on, when I need to move the String of Pearls into a larger pot I want to plant it in a hanging pot - I have a nice big brown plastic hanging "basket" for it.

I've put a length of bamboo on the supports of the old living room curtain rod, and I want to see how I can hang pots from it. At the moment if I hang a pot with a hanger from the bamboo pole the plant is too high to get any light, so I'll need to add S hooks or maybe rope around the rod, and then hang the pots from the extra length I'll have added ...

UPDATE - Scrap that ... I've bought 4 chains from AliExpress!  I think they're meant to be used in sets of three, for hanging pots, but I want to clip one end of the (24cm) chain to the bamboo pole, and the other end to the hook on the pot hanger.

String of Hearts

The String of Hearts was very long, but it looked a little bald in parts ... plus I want a bushier plant ... so I've given it a good haircut!

So I've put lots of bits into a pot of water, to root, and I've put one long length into a plastic bag and sprayed it with water, and hopefully that too will root. I saw this last method on YouTube and it worked really well, so fingers crossed.

Rooted!

This is my String of Bananas cutting. I noticed it on the floor, under the plant stand on which I have the pot of cuttings ... and when I picked it up I saw it had rooted! So I've planted it in the green wellies. I've also put the string of hearts cutting I had in the "rooting pot" in the wellies too.

I've just bought more succulents!! I can't even remember where I came across the name - Succulents Ireland ... but here we go again ... They had mini plants, and you bought 6 and got a seventh free, but of course it didn't stop there! Plus postage was 7 Euros ...

I finally threw away the dried up fatsia ...

String of Hearts

My String of Hearts is here, from Hungary (Dabri Plants on Etsy)! The leaves looked wrinkled, but I gave it a good drink of water, and when I came home tonight I think the leaves had plumped up a little. I intend to cut off some of the length so I can propagate, because I want to fill the pot more and make the plant more bushy. The longest vine strand measures well over a metre long!

I've put it on the shelf over the TV for now, but I want to find a higher spot to maybe hang it from, or maybe put it on one of my new Argos shelves, somewhere where the long vines are shown to best effect.

Sabrina sent me this String of Tears as a gift, and again some of the leaves were dry, but I've put in the pot with the other cuttings, and hope it roots.

The Graptoveria A Grim One has one root, and I want to wait until it has more, and longer roots, to put it in a pot.

String of Hearts

This is my second String of Hearts cutting, and it looks like it's growing! I have another one I bought earlier, and although it's not dead, I'm still not sure it's rooted - but I don't want to pull it out of the pot to check. That one was the one I had been trying to root in water. This one I just potted up in compost, and watered it and put a plastic bag over the pot, and it seems to have done the trick!

Sedum Pachyphyllum

 Day TWO - 15 June 2019 ... after ONE DAY

 29 June 2019 - just look at those roots!

Have decided to put my Sedum Pachyphyllum leaves in soil. (The fat leaf in the centre, is a Little Jewel Red Tips - a pachyphytum). I'd never tried to propagate leaves before, but I'd a video on YouTube, where someone was propagating them, suspended over water, so thought I'd give it a go.  I was AMAZED to see roots after just ONE day, and they've been doing quite well over the past couple of weeks. Thought it was time to transfer them to a pot of soil, and hopefully that works, and they grow into healthy plants! I've misted the soil, and hope that was the right thing to do ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had these in water too - a burro's tail, string of bananas and string of hearts cuttings - but now that I have soil I've potted them up instead. I have two more string of hearts cuttings in the kitchen, and those are in water still. They're in a water bottle I brought home from Bianca's last week.
I want a string of hearts plant, but the postage on eBay is twice as much as the price of a plant, so I'll wait to see them in a shop ... and then I'll grab 2 or 3 of them!
